We take the time to understand your home’s needs, your family’s needs, and your style. This allows us to create a customized plan for your home, providing you with an accurate itemized estimate of your project.
Our in-home consultation walks through:
- Your family’s personal needs

- Square footage
- Humidity
- Air quality
- Sun exposure
- And much more
We want to make sure your flooring will last a lifetime and we do the proper planning to make sure it does just that.
Once your paid consultation is complete, we will provide you with an in-depth assessment gathered from our research. This research comes to you in a packet that walks you through your entire evaluation along with suggestions for potential floorings that match your lifestyle and personal style.

Step 3: Furnish & Fulfill Your Vision
As homeowners, we understand how overwhelming home improvement projects can be. We strive to exceed your expectations in 4 areas. Communication, Convenience, Craftsmanship, and Courtesy. You can expect communication before, during, and after service. Our hardwood flooring craftsmen are trained to the highest industry standards, best practices, and guidelines. All work is overseen by an NWFA Regional Instructor. Our “Common Courtesy” promise is to honor the invitation into your home by respecting your space and maintaining a safe environment for your family.

Preparation is Key
Uncompromised craftsmanship & common courtesy starts at the beginning of your build. We take the invitation into your home seriously and work hard to make sure to respect your property.
- Removal of Furniture
We work with vetted family-owned moving companies to make sure your furniture is professionally removed from the work area. We treat your home like our own and want to make sure that all the items living on your new hardwood are well taken care of. - Removal of existing flooring
Odds are you probably have carpet or old tile you are currently living on and that is a tough job to remove in itself. Don’t have this headache looming over you. We will remove your existing flooring and organize the disposal of the old flooring. - Sub-Floor Preparation
After your old flooring is properly removed we check the structure of your sub-floor. Your home starts at the foundation and your hardwood starts at the sub-floor. To make sure your hardwood flooring is installed properly we start at the subfloor. We meticulously examine your subfloor for any squeaks, low spots, and loose boards and make the needed updates. Making sure your subfloor is in superb condition allows us to lay your hardwood flooring flat and squeak-free. - Clean for Excellent Installation
We make sure the entire workspace is clean before we ever start your actual installation. Making sure everything is clean allows us to ensure the best possible installation from the very start to your finished product.

Nailed It!
Whether you are installing all-new hardwood or repairing damaged hardwood. We start with installing the raw wood first. What this means is we take the unstained, untreated wood and install it in your home by meticulously nailing each board into place.
See your wood species (maple, oak, walnut, etc), board width (uniformed or a combination of mixed), and pattern (straightlaced, herringbone, chevron, etc) take shape. Our hardwood floor contractors painstakingly lay your floor in a way that helps prevent warping and cracking to ensure your hardwood truly does last a lifetime.
It doesn’t end there though, after the installation of the initial raw wood, we sand it to make sure the flooring is even and smooth before adding any texture or staining.

See the Character of Your Hardwood
After the initial installation and sanding - we will texture your floor to the desired look - hand-scraped, wire brush, or smooth even texture the floor will start to take the character you picked out with your Totta Hardwoods craftsman. Don’t worry - we use industrial vacuums that help to minimize the sawdust that looms in the hair making your home a safe space for you and your family to continue living in as we finish up your hardwood.
After the texture is achieved it is time to stain your flooring! We use eco-friendly stains that are Green-Guard Certified. This ensures your home's air quality stays safe for your family. With our promise to uncompromised craftsmanship and common courtesy, we make sure to not only deliver on your flooring but keep your family safe doing it.

Sealed It!
Last, but certainly not least in our proven process is finishing the floor. Your hardwood will be finished with three coats of high-quality professional-grade finish.
We abrade the hardwood floors by sanding down the top layer before applying the final coat. This allows us to strengthen the floors so you are left with a smooth clean strong finish. This makes your floors not only look incredible but last longer.
Step 4: Follow Through & Follow Up on Your Vision

Final Walk-Through
A final walk-through is performed to inspect the work, address any questions and provide maintenance instructions.

Enjoy!
After the final coat is applied, please follow these guidelines:
- The floor can accept light traffic after 3 hours.
- Furniture and appliances can be reset after 48 to 72 hours.
- Pets and rugs are allowed after 7 days.
- Approved hardwood floor cleaner can be used after 7 days.
Once everything is complete we will do a final walkthrough with you
